Her name is Luna. Scruffy terrier, grey beard, Flatiron District, 2015. She was running laps under the conference table at Digital Asset while the people above it figured out how Wall Street would move onto a blockchain. Wall Street took eight years to show up. Luna was already there.
Bloomberg visited Digital Asset's office in 2015 and wrote down what they saw. A worn wooden floor. A view of the air shafts. Glass walls covered in scribbled code. One painting, black and blue lines, made by the COO. And Luna, under the table.
The people in that room went on to build DAML, and then Canton. The dog is the detail that aged best.
A couple of years later Digital Asset put her on its own careers page, on the office sofa and in the team photo. Bloomberg said gray. The photos say charcoal with a grey beard and one ear that never got the memo. We'll allow it.
This site is drawn like the glass wall after hours. The painting was black and blue lines.
How a dog ended up early to Canton
2014
Digital Asset opens in New York
Founded by Sunil Hirani, Don Wilson, Yuval Rooz, Shaul Kfir and Eric Saraniecki. Luna's title was never formalised. We're calling it employee #0.
2015
Bloomberg drops by
The banks are being told blockchain will change everything. The banks nod politely. Luna gets a sentence in the article and a permanent place in the lore.
2016–22
The long build
DAML gets written. Banks run pilots, then more pilots. Luna practises the strategy she'd become known for: lie down somewhere warm and hold.
2023
Canton goes live
Digital Asset launches Canton, with DRW and Cumberland in the founding mix. Over $500M raised since. Institutions start moving real assets on-chain.
Now
Retail gets a door in
Supanova opens Canton to everyone, with Apple or Google login and no wallet setup. DTCC's rollout is on the calendar. Canton's dog finally gets a ticker.
Every chain gets one dog.
Dogecoin had a Shiba. Solana got a dog in a hat. Canton is where banks and trading firms are putting real assets on-chain, and until now nobody had picked its dog.
Nobody had to invent one. She was in the office before the chain existed. She's named after the moon, which felt like a sign.
About the other LUNA
We know. Different chain, different decade, different animal. Ours is a terrier, and the only thing she ever broke loose from was the leash.

The people Luna worked with
Everything below is on the public record. Luna's comments are not.
Don Wilson
Started in the Chicago Eurodollar options pit in a red jacket, the youngest trader on the floor. Coded pricing models at night on a Macintosh SE and smothered his dot-matrix printer with a pillow so he could sleep. Built DRW (his initials), co-founded Cumberland and Digital Asset, and won the M32 sailing world championship three times. Risk.net called him a financial platypus.
Luna's take: the pillow was the best part.
Eric Saraniecki
Has, by his own account, lost more bitcoin than most people will ever hold. A hardware wallet on Bondi Beach. Birthday cards loaded with BTC. A few thousand coins sent as thanks for Knicks tickets, later lost in Mt. Gox. ETH from day one of the sale, location unknown.
Luna has never lost a tennis ball. Just saying.
Shaul Kfir
Won the first Mastercoin hackathon in 2014 with a project called Trust-Trade. His name is in the authors file of libsnark, the zk-SNARK library Zerocash was built on.
Luna has zero knowledge of any of this, and she can prove it.

Questions people ask
Is Luna real?
Yes. Bloomberg wrote about her in September 2015 when they visited Digital Asset's New York office. Here's the article. Digital Asset later featured her on its own careers page.
Is this run by Digital Asset, DRW, Cumberland or the Canton Foundation?
No. $LUNA is a community memecoin about a real dog who happened to work in their office. None of the companies or people mentioned here are involved or endorse it. Luna hasn't endorsed it either. She's a dog.
Is this Terra LUNA?
No. Different chain, different team, different decade. This one is on Canton and has four legs.
What's the utility?
It's a memecoin. No utility, no roadmap, no promises. Buy only what you're fine losing.
Where's the contract address?
It goes up on this page and on our X account at launch. If someone sends you one before that, it's a scam.
